AIDS Walk Long Beach
The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach proudly presents AIDS Walk Long Beach. The 2018 walk will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018, and will kick off at this year's Supporting Sponsor location: Alfredo's Beach Club on Granada Beach. All proceeds from AIDS Walk Long Beach benefit Long Beach organizations serving members within our local community affected by HIV.
Since its founding, AIDS Walk Long Beach has raised millions of dollars to support those most vulnerable and most in need served by Long Beach-based organizations. Funds raised support critical prevention services including free condoms, HIV and STI testing, food pantry support, case management, PrEp and PEP counseling, medication support, and social and support groups in multiple languages.
Each participant who registers is encouraged to raise awareness and money towards our collective goal each year. Funds collected will support not only the LGBTQ Center of Long Beach's programs and services, but also local benefiting agencies that provide services for people impacted by HIV. There is no registration fee, no minimum fundraising this year, however, we encourage everyone to share their fundraising page to raise any amount that they can. For participants who decide to become fundraisers, AIDS Walk Long Beach swag will be provided to those who reach specific goals. All donations received by individual or team walkers will support: mental health services, food bank services, emergency support funds, medical case management, HIV testing & STI screening, PrEP and PEP access, appointment transportation and support for children.
AIDS Walk Long Beach is holding it's first 5k run component this year! The registration process is the same with ZERO Registration Fee and no obligation to become a fundraiser. We do encourage you to share your page with friends, family and co-workers to share your participation and raise any amount possible. You can also donate what you want to your own run campaign if you want.
All run participants will receive a limited edition participation medal for running in the 5k as well as a commemorative "Who will you walk for?" 2018 AIDS Walk Long Beach t-shirt.
Runners, like walkers, who choose to be fundraisers can receive AIDS Walk Long Beach swag for unlocking fundraising achievements. Fundraising $25 unlocks the AIDS Walk Long Beach bracelet. Donations adding up to $50 adds a reusable tote bag and, for those who raise $100, you can include a AIDS Walk Long Beach Champion gym towel.

Bringing awareness and support to local organizations giving services to people and communities impacted by HIV is the mission of AIDS Walk Long Beach. The best way for us to achieve that mission is by coming together as a community. Volunteers are the backbone of events like AIDS Walk Long Beach, providing the much needed encouragement to walkers in the morning, staffing rest stops along the route and passing out water or helping stage the finish line event at the Long Beach Museum of Art. Your energy and support are what makes this event possible.
If this is your first time or your 10th time walking, we always have questions and we're here to help. If your question isn't answered bellow, please do not hesitate to email our Health Services team who will be glad to offer some assistance!
What time does the event start and end?

The run component will start at 9:30am followed by the 5k walk starting at 10:30am. Registration for both pre-registered and same-day registered participants will open at 9:00am. Do I have to check in if I've already registered? Can I register same day?
Yes, participants who have registered online before the event need to check in to get any swag that they are qualified for. Participants get their bib numbers and must sign a liability waiver before the event starts. If you are planning to register same-day at the start of the event, you will need to fill out the registration form, sign the liability waiver and get you bib number. If you bring donations with you or donate to your personal fundraising page, you may qualify to get swag same day.
Is there a minimum fundraising amount this year?
We understand that having a minimum amount to raise can be difficult, especially with the large number of charities you can chose from. AIDS Walk Long Beach is a local charity walk that helps many and wants to commit to our fundraising goal each year. As a walker or team of walker, we encourage you to try to raise any amount you can commit to. Individual walkers and teams will be acknowledged at the end of the walk and on our social media pages. It doesn’t hurt to try, but we do have folks available to support you with ideas and tools if you choose to fundraise.
How do people donate towards my team or individual fundraising page?
When you first register you will receive an email with your team page link that you can share on your social media platforms. This email also includes a link to invite people to join your team. People can also choose to donate directly to the walk as well without having to donate to a specific walker or team of walker. All proceeds support local, Long Beach organizations that provide services to those of us impacted by HIV.
