Career Counseling
The Center provides free, confidential 30 minute career counseling sessions. Consultations are by appointment only and are thirty minutes long. Sessions will cover topics such as resume writing, job interview techniques, and job search techniques among other things. Career counseling sessions are currently being offered by phone.

Recovery Groups
Intimate Recovery Men’s AA – A weekly group for men to explore intimacy within the lens of their recovery process.

Senior Services
The Center’s Senior Services are conducting online social and support groups and activities. We also continue to provide case management and supportive services remotely. Click here for a full list of programs and activities and to sign-up to participate.

Social & Support Groups

LGBTQ+ BIPOC & Allies Social Group – The LGBTQ+ BIPOC & Allies Social Group is for Black, Indigenous, and people of color and their allies. The group exists to provide friendship and support to LGBTQ+ BIPOC folks while fostering a sense of community. Whether you’re Middle Eastern, Asian, South Asian, Latino, African American, Black, or another race/ethnicity, you will be most welcome here! We welcome friends and allies from all backgrounds ages 18+ who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, as well as those questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity/expression and straight allies. The group organizes a range of events as well as discussions covering a range from spirituality to sex, relationships to health, and more.

Gender Expansive – A social support group for individuals 18+ who identify anywhere along the gender spectrum! The group is supportive in nature and celebrates our accomplishments and talks about issues we face every day in our journey.

HIVE Connections – APLA Health’s HIVE program for HIV+ men fifty and over is now offering “hive connections”, a weekly online support group. Join HIVE staff and your peers for emotional support. This is not our
first pandemic, so let’s share our grit and resiliency. HIVE also offers a weekly beach walk (socially distances, with masks) that includes a drink from Hot Java and farmers market coupons at the end of the walk, online social events like weekly bingo and Wheel of Fortune games with prizes, a happy hour, and a twice a week 30-minute workout. PLEASE NOTE: This is a community group and not run by The LGBTQ Center Long Beach.

Men Over 40 – A group for gay and bisexual men to gather for social chats.

Men’s Rap – An informal discussion group where ideas are exchanged on a variety of issues pertinent to gay men and the LGBT community at large. Men’s Rap exists as a space for men to share and discuss personal experiences and provide an alternative place for gay men to meet and make friends. Men’s rap is open to gay, bisexual, and transgender men of all ages.

Polyamorous Gathering Long Beach – We attract a wide range of people who are in open relationships or identify as polyamorous. If you are curious about this lifestyle, or have questions about your current relationship, this is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people, many of whom are available for advice, support and just plain fun. We are, first and foremost, inclusive of communities of color, disabled, and LGBTQ persons. We welcome you, solo or with your loved ones, and look forward to seeing the familiar faces that build this loving community.

Support Positive – Dealing with a new HIV diagnosis can be a challenging and at times overwhelming. Support Positive discusses issues affecting those with a new diagnosis including relationships, managing and understanding medical care and treatment options, and dealing with family, work, and friends. If you have been diagnosed in the past two years and are looking for support, call and join your peers.

Transparent Watercolors Workshop – This is a luminous transparent & realistic workshop developed for the LGBTQ community and welcomes all who would like to learn fun and easy painting techniques while creating your own work. Create dramatic compositions that will excite your friends and paint watercolors that capture the beauty of fruits, flowers and other still life.

Youth & Family Programming

20 Somethings – 20 Somethings is a social group focusing on experiences and issues of LGBTQ+ individuals ages 18-29 years old.

Family Groups – Family Services is conducting online social and support groups and activities. We also continue to provide case management, supporting LGBTQ youth workshops, and other supportive services remotely.

M.Y.T.E. (Mentoring Youth Through Empowerment) – M.Y.T.E. is an affirming space for LGBTQ+ and ally teens ages 13-18 years old.
