Thanks to the generous support of Arts Council for Long Beach, The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach is proud to host the queer spoken word showcase Sister Spit FREE for the third year in a row! In addition, we are proud to announce AMP Org will be hosting the official after party immediately following Sister Spit at Que Sera (1923 E. 7th Street, free parking in The Center’s lot).
Since it’s maiden voyage in 1997, Sister Spit has been taking vanloads of cutting-edge, razor-sharp writers, poets & performance artists into the wilds of North America, bringing a radical vision of queerness, feminism and daily life into small towns and big cities, staging shows all over the country. Always bringing a mixture of award-winners and best-sellers with up-and-comers, a Sister Spit show is like nothing else, an inspiring glimpse into other ways of living, thinking, and being, infused with humor, darkness, and camp.
This year’s tour will be hosted by Lambda Literary Award-winning author Ali Liebegott and will feature a vanload of tremendous performers including
—Rhiannon Argo- Lambda Literary Award-winner for The Creamsickle and author of Girls I’ve Run Away With.
—Dia Felix- Award-winning digital media producer, founder and editor of Personality Press, author of Nochita (2014)
—Chinaka Hodge- Poet, playwright, educator, screenwriter, and 2010 Annenberg Fellow. Chinaka’s prose, editorials, and poems have been featured in Newsweek, San Francisco Magazine, Believer Magazine, PBS, NPR, CNN, C-SPAN, and on HBO’s Def Poetry.
—Beth Lisick- New York Times bestselling author and co-founder of San Francisco’s Porchlight Storytelling Series.
—Lenelle Moïse- Performance artist, award-winning playwright (Merit) and Huntington Theatre Company Playwright Fellow.

And as always, Sister Spit is proud to also host fabulous local authors Griselda Suarez and Myriam Gurba!
Because The Center loves you and loves our community, we’ll have beer and wine for sale and tons of resource tables on hand to connect with some other fabulous organizations in the city! See you on March 29!
